Kick Tolerance for Mac 3.0 available on the Mac App Store

Kick Tolerance for Mac (OS X)

kt3_30_01

Available_on_the_Mac_App_Store_Badge_US_UK_165x40_0824

The Kick Tolerance provides to drilling engineers, chemists, technicians, students and others professionals in the Oil & Gas industry a productivity tool helpful in drilling operation (well control) and planning phase of oil wells.

This application deals with two concepts:

1- Kick Tolerance as Maximum Pore Equivalent Weight;
2- Kick Tolerance as Maximum Kick Volume.

Both with graphical analyzes.

For both the concepts, the calculations uses the Fracture Gradient defined in “Well Configuration -> Gradients” views.

1. For KT as Maximum Pore Equiv Weight

– Plot KT x Maximum Kick Volume

KT (Maximum Pore Equiv Weight) = mudWeight + (casingShoe/wellDepth) * (Fract Equiv Weight – mudWeight) – (KickLength/wellDepth) * (mudWeight – kickDensity);

=> Known the Maximum Kick Volume, find the KT as the Maximum Pore Gradient;

2. For KT as Maximum Pit Gain Volume:

Plot KI = the difference ( Pore Equiv Weight – Mud Weight ) versus Maximum Kick Volume (Pit Gain)

The kick tolerance is the smaller of the two volumes between V2 and V3.
This KT is showed in the Graph: KI versus KT Volume.

Others features:

1) Calculations of the Choke Line Effect;
2) Included the formulas;
3) Ability to work with data files locally and on iCloud;
4) Sharing Data Files with iCloud and importing wells from other apps;
5) Views with calculations of capacities, volumes and more.

7) Options wells in floating units or in drilling land rigs;
8) Choice of rheological models (Bingham and Power);
9) Hydrostatic calculations at the bottom hole and the casing shoe;
10) Selecting the system of units: Metric, SI, Imperial and Mix;
11) Selection of units also per parameter;

Drilling Cost for iPad 3.0 redesigned for iOS 7

Drilling Cost for iPad 3.0

Redesigned for iOS 7

Now available on the App Store !

DC_512_HD

Available_on_the_App_Store_Badge_US_UK_135x40_0824

Features:

The Drilling Cost provides to the drillers, toolpushers, drilling engineers, students and other professionals in the petroleum industry a productivity tool helpful in drilling operation to calculate the drilling cost per length unit drilled, analysis of drill bit performance and to use in planning phase of oil wells.

Formula:
Drilling Cost = (Bit Cost + Rig Cost x (Drilling Time + Trip Time)) ÷ (Length Drilled)
Drilling Cost => drilling cost $ per length unit ($/ft, $/m)
Bit Cost => bit cost, $
Rig Cost => rig cost per hour, $ / hour
Drilling Time => total drilling time, hour
Trip Time => trip time, hour
Length Drilled => total length drilled by drill bit, ft or m
The Advanced Feature:
This application provides an advanced feature that is the modeling of data Drilling Cost vs. Drilling Time and also vs. Length Drilled  using quadratic regression. The minimum point of the parable may correspond to the operation time of the drill bit, where will occur the minimum cost. The more the R squared is close to 1, the result will be better.
Quadratic regressions:
1) Drilling Cost = c + b (LD) + a (LD)^2, LD = total Length Drilled by the dril bit
2) Drilling Cost = c + b (DT) + a (DT)^2, DT = total Drilling Time by the drill bit
Data Files:
The user can work with data files that must correspond to the drill bits used in each phase of drilling.
